Three staff members of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees have been abducted in eastern province of South Kivu of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
According to an internal notice by the United Nations Stabilization Mission in DR Congo, this took place on Friday at around 2:00 am local time.
The suspected Mai-Mai militiamen reportedly attacked the Monge Monge Refugees Transit camp in the town of Baraka, capturing a Senegalese office assistant and two security officers of Congolese nationals.
Following the abduction, the government force and police started an investigation.
The United Nations Stabilization Mission in DR Congo advises all UN staff in the province to suspend operation and return to bases until receiving further notice.
