A terrible fire outbreak at a Las Vegas apartment on Saturday has claimed six lives and left thirteen others injured.
The fire started around a stove in a first-floor flat.
Investigators said they were told by residents that some had been using their apartment’s stoves for warmth because the building lacked heat.
Authorities said several residents were hanging out of windows in a bid to escape the heavy smoke.
Fire department spokesman Tim Szymanski said the fire appeared to be accidental, but authorities were investigating whether the building had code violations because they did not hear fire alarms going off.
Szymanski said investigators’ first priority, however, was to figure out what caused the fire.
