Forty two thousand Nigerian youths have applied for the Federal government’s work experience programme designed to enable unemployed graduates acquire skills that will help them become employable.
Nigeria has a population of over 200 million and about 60 percent are youths who need employment, unfortunately, only 10 percent have decent jobs. Many are said to be unemployable due to lack of skills.
The national youth service corp has continued to churn out graduates on a yearly basis with not enough jobs to go round.
The federal government has had to come up with different Strategies to create jobs for the youths such as the N-power scheme and the Deel project.
This Memorandum Of Understanding between the ministry of youth and sports and these Nigerian Companies, is to train youths in different skills to
help them gain working experience.
This is one of the many MOUs the ministry is entering into, as part of efforts to develop Nigerian youths.
