Lassa fever appeared to be spreading to more states with Edo and Bauchi states recording the latest cases of the disease.
76 out of 175 suspected cases have tested positive in Edo state, Commissioner for Health in the state, Patrick Okundia said no death has been recorded.
The Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, called on all hospitals across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state to refer any suspected cases to Irrua Specialist hospital and isolation centres.
In Bauchi state, three cases have been confirmed and 12 others suspected. Executive Secretary, Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Rilwan Muhammed said the recent outbreak affected Toro, Tafawa Balewa, Bauchi, Bogoro and Dass Local governments,
This recent cases now makes it seven states affected since the recent outbreak.
Other states with reported cases are Borno, Enugu, Ondo, Kano and Delta where twenty two persons have beeen killedand several cases being monitored.
