The Governor of Plateau State Simon Lalong called for the Federal Government’s support in resettling and reintegrating internally displaced persons who were ejected from their camp.
They were occupying the secretariat of the Nigeria Mining and Geosciences Society after being displaced from their villages due to the farmer-herder clashes in 2018.
But the owners of the property later sent a quit notice, leaving them stranded and with no homes to return to.
He said the State Government cannot bear the huge financial cost of resettling the IDPs since the closure of all IDPs in December 2019 in spite the provision of construction materials for them to rebuild their home.
Governor Simon Lalong says it is important to resettle them, so they can be productive citizens.
