The government of Kwara State has demolished Bukola Saraki’s family property popularly known as ‘Ile Arugbo’ (old people’s home) in Ilorin, the state capital.
According to eyewitnesses, state government officials pulled down the building in the wee hours of Thursday.
Residents complained that gunshots and teargas were fired into the building ostensibly to scare protesters away.
The demolition comes as the Saraki’s kinsmen appealed to the governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to thread with caution.
The state Director General of the Bureau of Lands, Malam Ibrahim Salman, had earlier revealed details surrounding the civil service clinic land and its adjourning plots in Ilorin, the state capital, amid public enquiry on the status of the property reclaimed by the state government.
The Kwara state government stated that the reclamation of the land is part of government property illegally acquired by individuals.
