Senator Christopher Ekpenyong has been sworn-in as the lawmaker representing Akwa Ibom North Senatorial District.
President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, administered the oath of office on Senator Ekpenyong during Thursday’s Plenary at exactly 10:50am.
The Senator vacated his seat in the Senate chambers when a court of Appeal ordered a rerun election in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, for proof of irregularities and non- compliance with the Electoral Act in the conduct of Elections filed by the Minister of Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio.
However, Senator Ekpenyong pulled a total of 134,717votes to defeat his opponent, Mr Akpabio who had 83,820 votes according to the results released by INEC.
