State Epidemiologist, Steven Fagbemi, disclosed this during a meeting with Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and local government chairmen in Akure.
According to him, the sixteen patients died because their cases had reached an advanced stage before they were brought to hospitals.
He added that forty seven people who are on admission are responding to treatment, while twenty one others have already been discharged.
