The Niger Delta Basin Development Authority is an agency under the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, set up to address quality water supply and food security in the core Niger Delta states of Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta.
But at its head office in Port Harcourt, staff are protesting what they describe as failure of the management to deliver on this mandate. They alleged that more than 500 million naira released by the federal Government for several projects cannot be accounted for.
The workers called for forensic audit of the authority’s accounts by all anti-corruption agencies.
The Management staff could not be reached for comment but the protesters say they will continue to restrict access into the complex until their demands are met.
