Imo state newly sworn in governor, Hope Uzodinma, has sacked all chairmen of boards and parastatals in the state, including their members.
Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Oguwuike Nwachukwu, confirmed that Mr Uzodinma ordered the affected people, who were appointed by the former governor, Emeka Ihedioha, to handover government belongings in their possessions to the most senior civil servants in their respective agencies.
The governor had earlier suspended all contracts awarded by his predecessor, citing fraudulent activities of some government functionaries.
“Particular note has been taken of some parastatals where the contract letters and agreements are being backdated.
“Therefore Governor Hope Uzodinma has directed the suspension of all award of contracts in the state public service except with due authorisation from the office of the governor,” a statement signed by the Principal Secretary to the governor, Okonkwo, read.
