Bandits in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna state on Wednesday shot at a helicopter belonging to the Nigeria police.
The incident happened on Wednesday while the personnel were on routine operations.
This was disclosed by Police Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba.
He said the terrorists attacked the police using sophisticated anti-aircraft rifles and General-Purpose Machine Gun, GPMG, during an operation.
But the helicopter managed to return and landed safely at the Air force base in the state capital, but not without some issues.
No life was lost, but bullet shots hit the pilot and co-pilot who were on board.
Mba stated that the officers who sustained injuries are currently receiving treatment and are in stable condition.
Meanwhile the police say they’ve dealt a cruel blow on the bandits.
They claim to have killed over two hundred and fifty high profile members of the Ansaru Terror Group there.
Authorities of the force say the helicopter which was shot has been flown to Abuja from the Kaduna Air force base.
