The Department of Petroleum Resources has embarked on massive awareness on safety usage of cooking Gas among Food vendors in Ogun State.
Vendors of Home Grown School Feeding Programme were invited for training by the Agency.
TVC News Kazeem Olowe reports that the harmattan comes with its attendant problems, one of which is fire outbreaks. Recently, more than 100 shops were razed in sabo market, Ogun state.
To reduce avert such incidents the DPR is educating food vendors under the home grown school feeding programme on the use of cooking Gas at their Abeokuta field office.
The Agency is proposing the use of liquefied petroleum gas instead of firewood for local cooks and food vendors.
The Operations Controller, of the DPR says the agency will ensure that best practices are strictly adhered to, at all gas and LPG skid facilities across the state.
The women were trained on how to check the expiry date on cylinders, where to place their gas cylinders at home and where not to refill their gas cylinders.
The agency also gave them one cylinder each to encourage them.
