Residents in more than 200 communities in Demsa Local Government are celebrating the return of peace to their domains after four years of prolonged crisis which left hundreds dead.
The affected communities were razed, with property worth several millions of Naira destroyed due to ceaseless farmers/herdsmen conflicts.
Correspondent Owolabi Adenusi reports that the residents of agrarian communities once abandoned their farmlands for fear of being killed but now gather in jubilation as a family.
They appreciated the Federal and the state governments for restoring peace to their domains, and also prayed that this peace will not be temporary.
The occasion also marked the tenth year the 55th Hama Batta was installed on the throne
His Royal Majesty Homun Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke was said to have stood behind his subjects during the turbulent period.
He highlights steps so far taken to ensure farmer/herder conflicts in his domain, do not recur.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri further sought the support of traditional ruler to maintain the peace that has been restored.
Some sons and daughters of the communiries were also honoured with traditional titles for their unrelenting contributions to peace building.
