The United Nations Population Fund and the Norwegian government have commenced a joint initiative to assist Gombe improve its primary healthcare system.
This assistance is coming as more internally displaced persons are now migrating to the state from neighboring Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa.
The State’s primary healthcare system has struggled to cope with this increased pressure.
The assistance from the UNFPA and the Norwegian government is focused on building capacity, improving infrastructure and funding.
Another area is coordinating the project and operations of other aid organizations.
