The Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted $8.6 million dollars at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
The Customs authority revealed that the money was concealed in a bus belonging to the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company at the Tarmac section of the Airport.
Our Correspondent reports that at first sight, the items which were in paper wraps could be mistaken for something else other than what they really are.
The Comptroller General of Customs said the money were not declared by the owner who concealed it with the intention of smuggling it out of the country.
Showcasing more seizures, the Customs authority also intercepted 9,504 kilograms of pangolin scales worth N10.2bn at Isheri estate in Lagos.
Other contraband items were also impounded by operatives of the federal operations unit zone A.
