President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday, said that the partial closure of Nigeria’s land borders would remain in force.
He called on neighbouring countries affected negatively by the policy to be patient until the report of the tripartite committee made up of Nigeria, Benin and Niger Republic is ready.
The president spoke in Abuja when he received his counterpart from Burkina Faso, Mr Roch Marc Christian Kabore, at the Presidential Villa.
The visiting president is the Chairman of the ECOWAS Committee mandated to resolve the issue of border closure.
The two west African leaders held talks behind closed doors and President Buhari thereafter emphasised that the partial closure of Nigeria’s land borders to goods from neighbouring countries will be determined by the report of tripartite committee made up of Nigeria, Benin and Niger Republic.
