Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced more measures to curtail the spread of the coronavirus in the statewhich has seen an increase in cases from nineteen just two days ago to twenty nine.
In his latest address, the governor ordered the closure of all markets, shops and malls for seven days, a measure that will begin on Thursday, excluding those selling essential products.
He revealed that all magistrate and high courts will be shut down, wants the private sector to encourage their staff to work from home and asked banks to utilize their online platforms for activities.
He also urged residents to refrain from inter-state travel and public gatherings and if necessary, the number of persons has been revised down from fifty to twenty five, also effective from Thursday.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said compliance to these measures will be enforced by security operatives and offenders will be dealt with.
For the Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, the state is escalating its testing capabilities to three centres and insists the coronavirus is not air borne.
