No fewer than 19 people were said to have died of Lassa fever in Bauchi State this year.
Deputy Governor Baba Tela, who is also the chairman, State Rapid Response Task Force on COVID-19 and Lassa fever, disclosed this to reporters yesterday in Bauchi, the state capital, while given an update.
Tela said 48 people are under close watch and medication, adding that the government has approved N25 million for its control.
“As at week 14 of our campaign, the total number of death caused by Lassa fever is 19. Forty-eight people are under medication and are recovering well,” he said.
Forty-three cases were recorded, with 16 deaths, including two doctors, in January.
