The Ogun police command has arrested a 54-year old man, Niyi Omowodun for allegedly defiling a 12-year old girl around Ejigun Agbede, Itele-Ota in Ado Odo Ota local government area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, made this in known through a statement issued in Abeokuta.
He noted that the suspect was arrested on June 29, following a complaint by the father of the victim who reported the incident at Itele Divisional Headquarters.
He said the victim’s father explained that he was at work when he received a call from one of his neighbors that her daughter had been sexually abused by the suspect.
He added that on interrogation, the suspect who claimed to be a pastor at Helmet of Life International church confessed that he had intercourse with the girl and that he lured her into an uncompleted building in the area.
The Police Spokesperson in the state also confirmed that the Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson has ordered the transfer of the suspect to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
