Taraba state governor, Drius Ishaku, has alleged there are indications that armed bandits and kidnappers using the Jukun/Tiv crisis to carry out criminal acts against traumatised residents of southern Taraba.
He disclosed this in an interview with Journalists inTakum where he pledged his government’s commitment to ending the ceaseless crises.
The prolonged land dispute between the two warring tribes has claimed many lives leading to the displacement of more than 23,000 people with property worth millions of naira destroyed.
Governor Ishaku is worried that criminals are now taking advantage of the crisis to terrorise innocent citizens in southern Taraba. He is optimistic that recent collaborative efforts with relevant security agencies will yield desired results.
The crisis has spread to Bali local government in the central senatorial zone and the Chairman of the Council, is still counting on the loss both in human and materials. He is disturbed that miscreants now use the unrest to loot property of innocent citizens.
The latest synergy between Governor Darius Ishaku is expected to restore civil order to the crisis-prone areas.
