Beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme have asked President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint a substantial Cordinator for the Agency.
The group said the absence of a Coordinator, has affected the programme flow as in-training allowances of students both onshore and offshore have not been paid.
The Presidential Amnesty Programme was inaugurated by former president Umaru Musa Yaradua in October 2009.
The programme is a disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration programme for Niger Delta ex combatants.
The programme has run over the years but not without outs its hitches normally having to do with accusations of financial misappropriation against its coordinators
The last coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty programme was suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari after numerous petitions against him
Matters are not made any easier with issues in the Niger Delta Development Commission, which started when the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, released a circular announcing the composition
of a new NDDC board in August 2019.
An interim management committee (IMC) was then set in place to do a forensic audit following allegations of corruption and irregularities in the day-to-day affairs of the NDDC.
Though matters were put to rest with the President directing the IMC to run its forensic audit before a board was instituted, even activities of this interim body has been mired in controversy.
Beneficiaries of the programme believe a substantial board for the NDDC, and a Cordinator for the Presidential Amnesty Programme will put an end to contending issues.
The NDDC Act explicitly states that the office of the chairman shall rotate amongst member-states of the commission in alphabetical order.
