The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Delta State chapter, Goodluck Ofobruku has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
According to reports, the labour leader was intercepted and forcefully taken out of his car as he was driving out of his residence, near the Ibusa axis of the Ughelli-Asaba Expressway on Saturday night.
Secretary of the union in Delta state, Innocent Ofonyeade, said the kidnappers are yet to establish contact with the family of the victim.
The spokesperson of the state Police Command, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Sunday in Asaba, said Ofobruku was a victim of armed robbery before he was kidnapped at gunpoint.
“The incident was a case of armed robbery and abduction. The gunmen were robbing in the street when the labour leader was driving out of his home”, she said
