Senator representing Benue North East, Gabriel Suswam , has urged residents of the State to douse situations that may threaten the good order of the society rather than fuel unrest .
Senator Suswam disclosed this when he issued a press statement he personally signed in reaction to the killing of a militia leader in Benue State Terwase Akwaza also known as Gana.
The Benue Senator said he was suprised at the way Gana was killed even after he had surrendered and was ready to accept the State Government amnesty.
Senator Suswam blamed the heightened insecurity in the area on the dwindling economy and the impact it has on Benue State.
He however condemned the killing and said criminals should be subjected to due process of the law as he would have been more useful alive in getting to the root of criminal operations in the area.
He also appealed to community leaders and elders to rein in on their youths to avoid a deterioration of the situation.
