The Federal Executive Council approved ratification of Nigeria’s membership of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement
This formed part of decisions reached at this week’s Federal Cabinet meeting in Abuja
Nigeria signed the AfCTA agreement in Niamey on 7th July 2019 during the 12th Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union, but was yet to ratify it.
All member-states were given up to the 5th of December to ratify the agreement, which is to come into force of 1st of January 2021.
In continuation of its road construction drive across the country, the Ministry of Works and Housing got approval from Council for the construction of Kano-Dawakin-Tofa-Gwarzo-Dariyo road in Kano.
The sum of N62.7 billion was approved with a completion time of 24 months
The Ministry of Aviation also got approval of contract for the procurement, installation, and commissioning of a fully dimensional aerodrome and approach simulator at Lagos Airport.
And finally this week, Council approved the introduction of an e-NHIS electronic platform in order to kickstart the establishment of an electronic medical records
and management system.
The platform that will allow stakeholders including and particularly the States Health Insurance Schemes, the Health Management Organisations and the hospitals, to share information about patients they offer services to.
Minister of Health Osagie Ehanire said the project is to be carried out by the NICOMSAT under the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy with their partner which is Galaxy Backbone .
