Governor of Zamfara State Bello Matawalle has secured the release of twenty six kidnapped minors in the State.
The victims who are between the ages of 8 and 12 are indigenes of Katsina State.
The girls were abducted by bandits in Faskari local government area of the state and taken to bandit camps in Zamfara state.
Governor Matawalle said the victims were released through negotiations with the State Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs.
He added that his administration will not abandon the peace dialogue initiative with bandits as fire power alone cannot solve the problem of banditry.
“This is a testimony to our vision for engaging the bandits in a peace dialogue.
“For those who believe we are wrong to dialogue with the bandits, the securing of these minors who are all girls, unhurt, is indeed priceless” the governor said.
