The House of Representatives Committee on Aviation has directed the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, to put the concession of four airports across the country on hold.
The chairman, Nnolim Nnaji, gave the directive at an interactive meeting of the committee with the authorities of the Ministry on planned concession of the nation’s international airports.
The airports are those in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano.
Although, the Minister was not at the meeting, the lawmakers said the concessioning process, which has been rejected by workers’ unions in the sector, should be put on hold, pending the resolution of the concerns of the workers.
The committee hopes its intervention will give room for all parties to reach a meeting point in the overall interest of the country and its people.
