Kebbi state Governor, Atiku Bagudu has again emphasized the need for strict adherence to COVID-19 protocol to prevent the spread of the Vitus in the state.
The Governor was speaking when he received the report of Community-Based Organizations, CBOs and civil society organizations, CSOs engaged in sensitizing the public on Covid-19 prevention at the Council Chamber, Government House Birnin Kebbi.
According to him, preventive care in the case of Covid-19, remained the best approach in tackling the spread of the virus, saying global this has been the campaign against the spread of the Vitus even in advance countries with better healthcare delivery services.
He commended the effort of all the organisations involved in the campaign against the spread of COVID-19 in the state as he assures them of engaging them in other areas of state development and as agents of facilitating good governance.
He says the state is ready to commit more resources to improve its healthcare delivery system and ready to work with well meaning organisations and individual to better the lives of its people in all areas of development.
The Governor salute the supportive role if his wife Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu for initiating the idea to involve the CBOs and the CSOs in fighting the spread of COVID-19 in the state as well as their engagement in other health matters such as sensitization on routine immunization.
The commissioner for health and chairman, state task force on Covid-19, Ja’afaru Muhammad says the impact of the role of the CBOs and CSOs was felt mostly in the rural community.
He promised that the Ministry of Health will provide additional face masks, soaps for hand washing and sanitizers to the CBOs and CSOs for distribution to people at the grassroots towards addressing inadequacy of the items.
The leader of the team, Nasiru Karofi presented graphic report to the governor on their performance which recorded more than average acceptance among rural communities on protection against Covid-19.
