Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja had asked the Nigeria Police to produce former governor of Imo State Ikedi Ohakim in court for arraignment.
Mr Ohakim and Chinedu Okpareke were charged to the Federal High Court by the police over allegations of threats and harassment of one Chinyere Amuchienwa.
At the sitting the prosecuting counsel, Stanley Nwodo told the court that the matter was for arraignment but he was surprised at the absence of the defendants in court.
Counsel to Mr Okpareke, Emeka Etiaba, told the court that his client was not in court because he was not served with any hearing notice to appear in court.
In a short ruling, Justice Taiwo confirmed that there was no hearing notice in the court’s file, enjoined the prosecutor to ensure that the defendants were in court on the next adjourned date.
The judge said, it was his responsibility to ensure their attendance in court.
“The matter is brought before me for the first time for arraignment.
He adjourned the matter until 3rd March for arraignment and possible commencement of trial.
