The United States Senate, on Tuesday, confirmed Pete Buttigieg as Secretary of Transportation.
Pete Buttigieg 39, is “the first openly gay member of a White House cabinet and the youngest person nominated to Joe Biden’s Cabinet.
Mr. Buttigieg was one of the contestants at the 2020 Democratic presidential campaign but he later stood down to back Biden.
He was confirmed after the total votes by the lawmakers went in his favor ( 86 to 13).
As transportation secretary, Buttigieg has pledged to recognize how infrastructure has the power to bridge racial and economic disparities in America, as well as to keep in lockstep with Biden’s agenda of fighting climate change and address systems reeling from plummeting ridership amid the coronavirus pandemic.
President Biden had assured that he would give a voice to people who are gay, lesbian, transgender and other LGBTQ community.
