The Local Organising committee of the National sports festival tagged Edo 2020 has said the games will be brought to an end today, Thursday.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Project Manager, Media and Communications of Edo 2020, Mister Ebomhiana Musa.
According to the statement, the reason for halting the games was due to failure of the Federal government to release funds it had earlier pledged in support of the state government for smooth running of the event.
The committee regretted the decision but concluded it was left with no other option having expended its reserve on kick starting the event.
“Regrettably, the FG is yet to redeem its pledge to support us as the host state financially for the cost of postponements. So, we are left with no option than to end the games at noon on Thursday” the statement added.
