The Lagos State Judiciary across it’s various divisions partially resumed operations, after workers heeded a directive to report for work on Thursday.
But, the national body of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria frowns at this action, urging members Nationwide to remain at home and push for the implementation of financial autonomy for the Judiciary which is their major grouse for commencing a strike since April 6.
Many members of staff were seen gathered on the premises of the Lagos State’s Judiciary Headquarters – High Court, Ikeja Division, and others were seen at their duty posts including at the courtrooms in Ikeja and other divisions monitored by TVC News.
The Court’s general registry was however open for business, as people trooped in, in trickles for filing of matters and other related purposes.
But on Friday, a monitoring team from jusun’s national headquarters stormed the high court, ikeja and locked the gates. A circular pasted on the gates and signed by the National PRO, Koka Sekepreye stated that, “the NWC has taken steps to curb this ugly situation and request all workers to disregard this directive as no state has the authority to suspend the ongoing strike, Lagos inclusive.’
