Two offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ebonyi State have been set ablaze by unidentified persons.
The offices are located in Ebonyi and Ezza North Local Government Areas of the state.
No casualties were recorded but there were extensive damages to the building and facilities.
The incident happened few hours before a meeting scheduled for Wednesday (today) between INEC and heads of security agencies over the attacks on the Commission’s offices.
When contacted, the Ebonyi state INEC spokesman, Ali Sunday, confirmed the attack on the Commission’s facilities, says no causality was recorded but extensive damages to the building and facilities
But his police counterpart, LOVETH ADA said the command is not aware and would not react to the incident.
Report has it that a breakdown of the incidents showed that the most affected states include Akwa Ibom (four), Abia (three) Anambra (two) and Imo (two).
Other states that witnessed fire incidents between February 2019 and May 2021 are Borno, Ebonyi, Jigawa, Kano, Ondo, Plateau and Rivers. Abuja was also affected.
