The House of Representatives’ Peoples Democratic Party caucus has threatened to sue the federal government over its ban on Twitter operations in the country.
The warning was made in a statement released on Sunday on behalf of the caucus by its leader, Kingsley Chinda.
The caucus maintains that the prohibition is unconstitutional and harms Nigeria’s standing in the international community of democratic states.
It describes government’s resolve to licence social media operators in the country as an attempt to indirectly introduce the unpopular social media bill.
The caucus calls on Nigerians to rise in the call for a reversal of government’s ban on Twitter.
