Court of Appeal reinstates sacked PDP Executives in Anambra

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has set aside the judgment of Justice Olukayode Adeniyi of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, which sacked the Executive Council of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State.

Delivering Judgement over two judgements brought before the court on Friday, the three-man panel led by Justice Stephen Adah upheld the appeals filed against the judgement of the lower court.

Samuel Anyakolah had filed a suit at the FCT high court Abuja, claiming that the PDP, arbitrarily imposed the state chairman, Exco and other national delegates on members in its South-East zonal Congress of March 6, 2021.

Consequently, Justice Adeniyi of the FCT High Court ruled that the PDP violated its constitution in the conduct of the congress, and the appointments made, thereafter.

He further declared that all congresses and designations made by the PDP were nullified and set aside.

But ruling on the case on Friday, Justice Adah of the Court of Appeal held that the lower court lacked the territorial jurisdiction to have heard the suit brought before it on the dispute over the leadership of the PDP in Anambra State.

Meanwhile,, as the race for who will occupy the Anambra state government house thickens, political parties in contention are not resting on their oars.

Now, the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi and one of the two governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Valentine Ozigbo, have begged stakeholders and members of the party to unite for easy victory during the November 6 election in the state.

Mr. Obi and Mr. Ozigbo spoke at an enlarged PDP stakeholders reconciliation meeting held in Awka, summoned by Valentine Ozigbo to reunite members of the party, after the perceived rancour that followed the PDP gubernatorial primary.
