Twenty people who were kidnapped by bandits have been released by a joint operation involving the Niger state police, military and local vigilante groups in Nasko, Magama Local Government Area of Niger state.
Herds of rustled livestock were also retrieved from the bandits during the operation.
Other items recovered include One AK-47 magazine with 30 rounds of live ammunition, seven handsets, one honda motorcycle.
According to DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the command’s public relations officer, the security forces fought the thieves in a two-hour gun fight along Ibeto before being overrun.
During the operation, one Ak-47 weapon was discovered stashed between the rocks on the mountaintop with thirteen rounds of live ammunition.
