Founder of a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Dr. Rhoda Makinde Initiative (DROMI), has urged women to focus on what will bring development to the homes and Nigeria at large.
Dr. Makinde spoke at an event held at the Oba Adesanoye Civic Centre, Ondo city to mark this year’s International Women’s Day.
The programme was attended by over 4,870 women.
Also in attendance were; the representative of the wife of Ondo State Governor, Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the state Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Omolola Fagbemi among other notable women.
Mrs. Akeredolu was represented by Olamide Falana, Special Adviser to the Governor on Gender
Dr.Makinde urged women in Nigeria to be united against different biases militating against the development of the womenfolk.
She advised women to show more interest in politics and meaningful ventures.
The founder of the DROMI initiative also stressed the need to tackle gender imbalance that has rendered women incapacitated.
High point of the event was the presentation of award to the wife of Ondo state governor for her outstanding contributions to the development of the women folk.
