Staff of the National Assembly have served notice of an industrial action to the National Assembly Civil Service Commission over unpaid salaries and allowances.
The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria threatened to resume its suspended strike if the management fails to begin payment of arrears of minimum wage adjustment by the end of May.
The workers rejected the new payment plan put forward by the management of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Service Commission which tend to spread the payment to March 2023.
In a communique, the Association, resolved that its members would only allow the management and the commission six months, effective April 2022 to pay the arrears, as against the March 2023 deadline contained in the new proposal by their employees.
