The West African Examination Council has solicited the support of the Federal Government to procure a printing machine to help the council in its service delivery.
The Chairman of Council, who led his team on a courtesy visit to the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu in Abuja said that the outstanding machine which costs 3.9 million dollars is needed to enable the council achieve its mandate of conducting effective examinations.
The West African examinations council is an examination body responsible for the conduct of Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations in five West African countries, Nigeria, Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
The new Chairman upon assumption of office, is here to formally present himself to the Minister of Education.
He is also here to solicit funds from the Nigeria government to support it’s quest to get an additional printing machine.
The outstanding machine which costs 3.9 million dollars is needed to enable the council achieve its mandate of conducting effective examinations.
While visiting one of it’s examination’ marking centres in Abuja, the Council said there had been a marginal increase of WAEC fees due to the country’s spiral inflation.
The conversion rate of the naira has necessitated the upward review of fees to enable the council render its services efficiently to the Nigerian child.
The council pledges its commitment to working within the time limit of 45 days to which examination results would be released.
