A student of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Rachael Opadele who was reportedly abducted recently has been killed by her abductors after collecting a ransome of #5million naira.
The LAUTECH student was killed alongside a fellow hotel staff Olugbenga Owolabi who was also reportedly kidnapped with the student.
Opadele before his demise was a student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology but was working at the hotel due to the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities strike.
The duo were said to have been abducted on 29 July 2022 at the hotel located in Abaa area of Ogbomoso.
Sources said the kidnappers had earlier demanded ransom for the release of the victims which was been taken to them but the kidnappers became angry when they noticed the presence of soldiers at the LAUTECH area.
It was learnt that the soldiers stormed Ogbomoso on Tuesday, to provide security sequel to the increasing waves of kidnapping in the area.
TVC News gathered that a sum of N5m was paid but the kidnappers went ahead to kill the duo and a motorcyclist.
The Oyo state police command through it’s Spokesperson Adewale Osifeso said investigations are ongoing and updates on the issue would be provided accordingly.
