The Enugu State Police Command have raided two suspected Eastern Security Network, ESN, and Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, camps at Aguibeje, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, and Oduma, Aninri Local Government Area, both in Enugu State.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe.
According to Nduke, the tactical operation led to the discovery and exhumation of the remains of a colleague from a shallow grave.
The dead colleague identified as Johnson Okpanachi had been declared missing since July 30, 2022, at Aguibeje
DSP Daniel Ndukwe added that the tactical squad and operation restore peace carried out the intelligence-driven dusk to dawn raid in the forest at Aguibeje in Enugu Ezike community of Igbo-Eze North engaged in a gun duel, which resulted in the neutralization of one of them and the escape of several others with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.
Exhibits recovered during the raid are 12 firearms, including One AR-42 Assault, six pump action guns, one Locally made Berretta-like pistol and 5 locally fabricated double-barreled guns.
Others include 98 live cartridges, 2 Machettes, 1 Digger, 1 Battle axe, 1 Hacksaw, 5 motors vehicles including 3 Toyota Sienna, 20 different brands of Motorcycle and lot more .
