In Recent times, the FCT administration has been seriously concerned about the vast population growth and how it has caused an indiscriminate erection of structures in contradiction to the city master plan.
The government has also spent so much in demolishing these structures and is also tightening regulations to prevent a disruption of the master plan and control urban migration.
But this group of town planners believe it is time to review the original master plan of the FCT, making provision for the basic social amenities and infrastructure and capturing emerging realities .
The State Chapter has also added another feather to its cap as it inaugurated the Association of Women Town planner Executive Committee.
This addition is to further strengthen its core functions to sustainable urban development and management of the FCT .
The group hopes that this year’s celebration will provide a robust platform for discussions and engagements to chart a path for a sustainable urban governance and strengthen existing structures and systems
