Unknown Gunmen suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have reportedly attacked and disrupted Labour Party meeting in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The hoodlums numbering about 10 were said to be armed with guns and machetes, invaded the venue were Labour Party members were having their grassroots stakeholders meeting.
Eye witnesses account disclosed that no casually was recorded but the party members were reportedly wounded as they scamper for safety while trying to escape, after the gunmen opened gunfire on the unsuspecting party members.
The defection of the former Anambra state Governor Mr. Peter Obi to the Labour Party has grown the membership strength of the party, especially in the South East, South South Regions of Nigeria.
But the insistent of the separatists group, championing the No-election campaign in Biafra land, that has resulted to attacks on INEC and security personnel in the region, may be a source of concern.
Growing apprehension making rounds that the activities of the separatists group might have negative effect on the sanctity of the election, especially, having one of the strong contenders from the South East zone.
