The Pro-Chancellors of Universities have asked President Buhari to reconsider its stance on the No-Work-No-Pay policy that is causing the prolonged impasse between the federal government and striking university lecturers.
They made this demand when they met President Muhammadu Buhari at the state house in Abuja, the pro-chancellors were led to the meeting by Professor Nimi Briggs.
But President Buhari promised them that he would engage in further consultations with relevant stakeholders towards ending the protracted strike by the academic staff union of universities.
The select group of pro-chancellors also commended the Federal Government for concessions already made to the striking lecturers, including the offer to raise salaries by 23.5% across board, and 35% for Professors.
But they also asked for a further increase in the salary review in view of the economic situation of the country.
