The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nation says it has put all measures in place to mitigate the looming food crisis faced in the north east region occasioned by the 13 year insurgency.
FAO’s Assistant Director General and Regional Representative for Africa Mr. Haile-Gabriel Abebe stated this when he visited Maiduguri, capital of Borno state.
According to him the agriculture livelihood projects currently running in the region is to raise household farmers’ resilience and boost their income even as they start a new life.
Some of the projects put in place by the FAO comprises of integrated agriculture and vegetable production, fish processing and briquettes centres as well as the farm field school.
Mr. Haile-Gabriel Abebe assured to continue in this direction until food security is ensured in those areas.
