A group, the Ilorin Association of Friends is raising questions about the process leading to the appointment of the Vice Chancellor-designate of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole, Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
The group faults the process which it argued produced the least qualified as the new VC.
Professor Wahab Egbewole, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was announced by the University of Ilorin council as the 12th Vice Chancellor of the University on the 8th of September 2022.
The University council disclosed that Professor Egbewole was adjudged the best among the 13 shortlisted contestants for the exalted
position.
But this group is now faulting the selection process through which the VC-designate emerged.
The group wonders why the standard of a 10 year professorship was lowered during the selection process.
It is also demanding that the score of each candidate for the position be made public.
This is not the only group that has faulted the selection process but the University council disclosed that Professor Egbewole was selected because he would be truly concerned about the progress of the university and its responsibility to the nation.
Meanwhile in a press statement, The Vice Chancellor-designate Professor Wahab Egbewole promised to be fair to all and be just in all circumstances.
