The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Imo State has decorated over 120 newly promoted officers of the Command
Speaking at the decoration ceremony in Owerri, the State Commandant of NSCDC in the State, Matthew Ovye said the new rank will further boost the morale of the officers in the fight against oil vandalism.
Mr Ovye said that the promotion, which had lingered for some time, was made possible by the Commandant-General, Ahmed Abubakar-Audi and his administrative staff.
The Corps has also faced challenges to its operations in Imo State with the activities of Unknown gunmen and alleged IPOB gunmen.
The NSCDC which was established in the late 80’s was given government’s backing during the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo.
It has since been given main responsibility of protecting critical national infrastructure such as Oil Pipeline, Power Infrastructure and Others.
