Two suspects have been paraded by the Sokoto state Police command have for their alleged involvement in human trafficking and other related offences.
Addressing journalists during the parade the Sokoto state Police Commissioner, Muhammad Usaini Gumel says one of the suspects was arrested at the border town with the victim, which he attempted to traffic to Libya through Niger Republic
He said the other accomplice of the suspect was arrested in Sokoto town at a popular hotel in Sokoto Metropolis .
He says the two suspects will be investigated yo know their level of involvement in tuning a ring of human trafficking ring that is turning the Sokoto axis a major route.
Over twenty two persons were rescued by operative of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Person NAPTIP in Sokoto from the hand of suspected human traffickers last year.
In a related development, five persons suspected to be involved in kidnap for ransom in Sokoto and neighbouring states have been arrested by operatives of Nigeria Security and civil Defence corps NSCDC Sokoto state Command.
The suspects were accused of organising and perpetrating the kidnap of three persons within Sokoto metropolis and collecting over six million naira in ransom before releasing their victims
They are also suspected for engaging in cattle rustling with the support of some notable persons in the society who are not mounting pressure on the security agencies to release the suspects.
Also paraded are some suspected political thugs accused of attacking a personnel of the NSCDC with a matchet alongside some women accomplices in possession of some hard drugs and other weapons.
