The Finance Committee of the House of Representatives has advised petroleum sector agencies to synchronize figures released in the sector.
The advice was given by the Committee’s Deputy Chairman, Rep. Saidu Abdullahi, during an appearance by Midstream, Downstream Petroleum Authority management at the 2023-2025 Medium Term Expenditure Framework/Fiscal Strategy Paper Sessions with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies in Abuja.
Mr Abdullahi said that all the agencies in the sector brandish different figures and confused Nigerians.
He also noted that Nigeria is bleeding from paucity of funds and all agencies need to take the issues of government remittances more seriously.
Mr. Abiodun Adeniji, the executive director of the Midstream, Downstream Petroleum Authority, stated in response that the organisation was still trying to figure itself out because it was so new.
The appearance by the Nigeria Postal Service was stepped down because they failed to meet the committee’s requirements.
