Delta state Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has donated two eighteen-seater buses to the management of the Taraba university as well commenced the building of girl hostels in the institution.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Darius Ishaku advised lecturers in the state varsity to shun the lingering industrial action and resume academic work since lecturers from state university are not being owed their salaries.
These two buses are part of promises made by Governor Okowa at the convocation ceremony of Taraba State University.
The Delta State governor who was honoured with a Doctorate award promised to support the institution with infrastructure and operational vechiles.
Presenting the vehicles to the institution’s management, Governor Ishaku urged them to name the female hostel under construction after Governor Okowa, the financier.
Ishaku expressed hope that the VC and staff will make judicious use of the buses for the advancement of academic activities while thanking Governor Okowa and the people of Delta State for standing by the TSU.
He used the forum to call on the TSU lecturers to resume academic activities since the state government is not indebted to them.
The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Edward Gideon Baraya said the gesture of Governor Okowa will no doubt improve the standard of education of the Institution.
On his part, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sunday Bako applauded the commitment and dedication of Governor Darius Ishaku towards the development of the varsity.
He pledged to use the buses with utmost conscience and maximum efficiency.
The management of Taraba state university are indebted to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who has fulfilled his promises.
Okowa at the convocation of the Taraba State University where he received a honourary doctorate degree promised to support the institution with buses and female hostels to ease the sufferings of the students.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is also the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.
