Honourable Kolawole who said it will be premature to preempt security agencies on the cause of the fire which consume the State house of Assembly’s main sitting chamber.
Honourable Kolawole added that he was informed of the fire incident which started 8am on Monday morning by Security agents who were at the assembly complex and he went there in the company of some of his colleagues members of the Kogi State House of Assembly.
He however added that any lingering issue between the State Government and the Dangote Cement Factory will not be a factor in his thinking, saying the assembly has handed over everything to security agents to do their job.

“All right thank you earlier this morning I got a call from the security agents that briefed me, they said the Kogi State House of Assembly is on fire and I called my colleagues we went there and getting to the house we actually discovered that the house legislative chamber is completely razed down so that was what happened this morning.
Yeah well now I can’t really see exactly what is the cause of the fire outbreak but the security agents were there so we have given them the go ahead to investigate and report back to the house to let us know what exactly happened so we are leaving the whole thing to that, as at this moment because this is a surprise issue, it has never happened in the history of Kogi states that government property will be burn but that happens so we are leaving this to security agents but however we are suspecting it’s planned arson so that’s all we can say for now all right.
I don’t want to preempt the security agents yes I know there are issues between the state government and the Dangote Cement factory but speaking I wouldn’t want to preempt if they are responsible or not I want to give this job to the security agents to carry on the investigation and report back to the house and from there we will take it off.
Yeah generally speaking it’s a very big loss to us because the entire chamber was razed down and that is where we have all our equipment sitting arrangements for now what we can say is that it’s a very big loss that if we are going to record to that it was millions of Naira, you know what it is to set up a legislative chamber but so far so good we keep loading.
Yeah good enough legislators can have their seat anywhere within the states so long as we have our symbol of authority which is the Mace I’m very sure that we are going to provide a sensitive place of meeting with the legislative business this will not stop us doing our job at all so by the Grace of God, we will resume when we are supposed to resume and then legislative business will continue”.
